Only 7 per cent of UK businesses said they would bother to leave their current network to get a better price on a new phone or contract, a YouGov poll found.
Yet Britons cited price as the most important factor when it comes to choosing a new handset and tariff package. More than three quarters said it was important to their decision, ahead of the number of inclusive minutes and texts, the brand of phone or the length of the contract.
The unwillingness to make the effort to switch was also uncovered despite the ongoing squeeze on spending from inflation and the recession.
