The latest rumours seem to hint that the latest iPhone will be released late September, although there is yet to be any official confirmation from Apple.

Reports seem to suggest that the screen will be somewhat larger, with many predicting that the iPhone 5 will feature a 4-inch retina display. This will be a noticeable shift in size compared to the 3.5-inch screens the iPhone 4 and 4S featured previously.

It’s expected to be faster. Apple expressed an interest in the quad-core Exynos processor used by the Samsung Galaxy S3, and may look to run a variant. After the unprecedented and record-breaking success of the Galaxy S3, the iPhone 5 isn’t likely to compromise on features, and it’ll be interesting to see just how similar the two devices are in terms of specifications.

Pictures have been leaked on the web showing a smaller connector port on the iPhone 5, which will mean it will no longer fit with old Apple hardware and docking stations. Should this turn out to be true, this could be seen as a shrewd money making move by Apple, as users may be forced to buy adaptors if they wish to use their existing Apple equipment.

It is expected that once again you will be able to buy 16, 32 and 64GB versions depending on your anticipated usage. As yet there are no details of any pricing, so we’re not sure at this point what would represent best value.

We’re sure that there will be a whole host of other fresh changes to the latest iPhone, particularly given that it’s highly likely (if not certain) to run on the brand new iOS 6 operating system, but this will be the last iPhone to benefit from the legendary Steve Jobs. It’s believed that he was a key figure in the early development of the iPhone 5.
